The Bad Fruit Five

These guys are a work in progress. Together they form the newest threat for Captain Pickle and Wonder Yam to vanquish. They're not just bad, they're rotten. Storyboards are percolating. I didn't want to post them before I'd colored them, but I haven't had a wacom tablet in weeks. I'm in the middle of adding some color and texture to these guys (I'm having to do this with 'Gimp' on my linux box. Those who aren't strangers to 'Gimp' will surely give me some extra credit for my efforts)...



Sour Grape. The idea for Sour Grape is that he's capable of incredible feats, but doing so withers him into a raisin. However, he can drain the essence out of other fruit (i.e. brown a banana) to revert back to powerful grape form.



Pommy. The Australians call the British 'Pommys'. Slang derived from the unfortunate way English people tan like pomegranates, so the Union Jack tights are a given.


Shaved Kiwi. I couldn't really think of a way to draw a bad kiwi (like other rotten fruit) so I just gave him a bad habit.



Fuzzy Navel. I'm thinking telekinesis.


Bruised Apple. I toyed with the idea of pyrotechnics, but I think the bow and arrow has a nice irony.

Meanwhile

My sophomore painting effort. First time experimenting with a binder medium to achieve transparency effects. Painted to commemorate the 10th anniversary of my short film, 'War and Peas'.
